Part of Dan’s personal parlance. A time spike describes a subjective acceleration in the progress of events leading to a sense that time has suddenly sped up and then returned to normal; may overlap somewhat with a concept of “lost time,” thus leading us to conclude that Dan lives in a Dean Koontz novel.
The opposite of a time spike is a “Time Drag”, in which time seems to slow down.
