What would the values of a space frontier people be?

Nick posits that frontiers tend to encourage either the dissolution of systems of religious ethics or their fortification into fanaticism; the archetypes of the Puritan east and the lawless west being iconic here.
Also, there would be material elements that might influence things—resource scarcity leaving to conservationist values in some areas, but terraforming practices leading to anti-conservationinst sentiments regarding native life and/or stuff. Similarly, in ship-board or dome-type situations, activities that compromise the safety of the group would be a big no-no.
