You’re all a bunch of phonies.
CitR is my go-to “book that I can reference and trust that virtually everyone will have read.” This first became significant with the Far West Writing Project, which required me to find at least one book that Alex, Jacob, Susan, and I all had in common, but it has remained a solid choice since then. It isn’t that great a book, though it’s not bad for mandatory reading, but it’s really odd that it’s the most universal piece of Cultural Literacy territory I participate in other than, maybe, The Simpsons.
